Daryl Hannah`s Priority Is No Longer Movies But Animals
Daryl Hannah is taking a step back from acting to look after animals. The "Splash" star has a menagerie of rescued pets at her solar-powered farm - and she`d prefer to spend time with her animals than on a movie set. She says, "I have three alpacas, chickens, a few roosters... There`s a lot of wildlife near me but that`s great because I can see elk and owls and hawks. I`m pretty hands on (with the animals)."
The 49-year-old star continues, "Some of my animals are from shelters, or I hear that someone`s going to put some animals down. Usually I try to give them away but the ones I can`t give away are the ones I get stuck with."
"I`ve been acting since I was 11 years old and it`s an incredibly wonderful and beautiful creative outlet and I think it can be an inspiring thing for people`s imaginations and a wonderful escape. I still love movies and I always will but, as I grow up, my priorities shift a little bit to things of a little more substance and I want to be of service as much as I can."
